  • Wallace only works on Basic Pokémon with 50 HP or less.
  • Milotic ex gives up two points when knocked out.
  • Sleep is powerful but not guaranteed because the opponent can wake up between turns.

Strategy Overview

Milotic ex Greninja is one of the most exciting Water decks from the Everyday Wonders expansion. The deck combines two powerful win conditions: Milotic ex applies pressure in the Active Spot with consistent damage and Sleep, while Greninja creates passive damage across the opponent’s entire board. The deck’s main attacker is Milotic ex. Its Aqua Charge Ability allows you, once during your turn, to attach a Water Energy from the Energy Zone directly to Milotic ex. This is extremely valuable because Milotic ex needs three Water Energy for Water Pulse. Instead of relying only on normal Energy attachments, Milotic ex can accelerate itself and become attack-ready much faster than many other Stage 1 Pokémon. Water Pulse deals 80 damage and puts the opponent’s Active Pokémon to Sleep. The Sleep effect is what makes Milotic ex especially dangerous. Your opponent may fail the coin flip between turns and lose an entire attack. Even when they wake up, they may be forced into awkward decisions, such as retreating a damaged attacker, using resources early, or allowing you another turn to develop Greninja and prepare your next knockout. Greninja is the deck’s secondary engine and long-term damage source. Its Water Shuriken Ability allows you to place 20 damage on any one of your opponent’s Pokémon once per turn. It does not need to be in the Active Spot, which means Greninja can sit safely on your Bench while constantly softening targets. This creates pressure on damaged Bench Pokémon, evolving Pokémon, support Pokémon, and future attackers before they ever become active. The strongest part of the deck is how Milotic ex and Greninja work together. Milotic ex deals 80 damage to the Active Pokémon and can put it to Sleep. Greninja can then place 20 damage on that same Pokémon to turn 80 damage into an effective 100-damage turn. Alternatively, Water Shuriken can target a Benched Pokémon and prepare a future Cyrus knockout. This flexibility makes the deck difficult to play against because your opponent must protect both their Active Pokémon and their Bench at the same time. Wallace gives the deck another major advantage. Wallace allows you to choose one of your Basic Pokémon in play with 50 HP or less and evolve it into a random Pokémon from your deck that evolves from it. Feebas only has 30 HP, making it a perfect Wallace target. This means you can play Feebas early and evolve directly into Milotic ex without needing to wait for the normal evolution timing. Wallace can create explosive setup turns and allows the deck to establish its main attacker much earlier than opponents may expect. Elegant Cape gives Milotic ex an additional 30 HP because Milotic ex is a Stage 1 Pokémon. This improves its survivability significantly and can force opponents to spend an extra attack removing it. Since Milotic ex is worth two points when knocked out, keeping it alive for one more turn is often the difference between winning and losing a close game. Milotic ex Greninja Deck Guide Deck Overview Milotic ex Greninja is a flexible Water deck that can play both aggressively and patiently. It has a strong early-game setup plan, a reliable mid-game attacker, and a powerful late-game finish through Greninja’s repeated Water Shuriken damage. The deck does not rely on a single all-in attacker. Instead, it creates layered pressure. Milotic ex applies direct damage, Energy acceleration, and Sleep disruption. Greninja adds targeted passive damage every turn. Cyrus converts damaged Bench Pokémon into knockout targets. Wallace helps establish Milotic ex early. Elegant Cape protects your most important attacker. This deck is especially strong when you can force your opponent into difficult prize trades. Milotic ex can survive longer with Elegant Cape, while Greninja continuously adds damage in the background. Even if the opponent removes Milotic ex, they may already have multiple Pokémon within knockout range because of Water Shuriken. The deck rewards smart timing. You need to decide when to evolve with Wallace, where to place Water Shuriken damage, whether to target the Active Spot or the Bench, and when to use Cyrus to finish a damaged Pokémon. Key Cards Milotic ex Milotic ex is the main attacker and Energy engine of the deck. Its Aqua Charge Ability lets you attach one Water Energy from the Energy Zone to itself once per turn. This allows Milotic ex to reach its three-Energy attack cost much more easily. Water Pulse deals 80 damage and puts the opponent’s Active Pokémon to Sleep. Sleep can deny attacks, force retreats, and create extra turns for you to set up Greninja or attach more Energy. Even when the opponent wakes up, the status condition still creates pressure because they must respect the possibility of losing their next turn. Milotic ex should usually be your preferred Elegant Cape target. The extra 30 HP makes it much harder to remove and gives you more chances to use Aqua Charge and Water Pulse. Greninja Greninja is the deck’s passive damage engine. Its Water Shuriken Ability lets you deal 20 damage to any one of your opponent’s Pokémon once per turn. This effect is incredibly flexible. You can use Water Shuriken to finish a damaged Active Pokémon, soften a future attacker on the Bench, pressure a low-HP support Pokémon, or create a Cyrus target for the following turn. Greninja does not always need to attack. Its value comes from staying on the Bench and using Water Shuriken every turn. However, Mist Slash is still useful when you need a direct 60-damage attack or when Milotic ex is unavailable. Wallace Wallace is one of the most important setup cards in the deck. It can evolve a Basic Pokémon with 50 HP or less directly into a random Pokémon from your deck that evolves from it. Feebas has only 30 HP, making it an ideal Wallace target. This lets you play Feebas and evolve it into Milotic ex much faster than normal. Since Milotic ex can then use Aqua Charge immediately, Wallace can create a huge tempo swing. Use Wallace when evolving Feebas gives you an immediate advantage. The best Wallace turns are usually the ones where Milotic ex can begin accelerating Energy right away or where evolving protects Feebas from being knocked out. Rare Candy Rare Candy is essential for building Greninja. Since Greninja is a Stage 2 Pokémon, Rare Candy allows you to skip Frogadier and evolve Froakie directly into Greninja. Your ideal setup often includes both a Milotic ex and a Greninja in play. Wallace helps create Milotic ex quickly, while Rare Candy helps establish Greninja without needing to wait for the full evolution line. Try to avoid using Rare Candy too early if you do not have Greninja in hand or a clear plan for the following turns. Greninja is most valuable when it can stay on the Bench and use Water Shuriken repeatedly. Elegant Cape Elegant Cape gives the attached Stage 1 Pokémon 30 additional HP. Milotic ex is the primary target because it is the deck’s most important Active attacker. The extra HP can change major damage calculations. Opponents that would normally knock out Milotic ex in one attack may need two attacks instead. This gives you more time to use Aqua Charge, attack with Water Pulse, and place additional damage with Greninja. Cyrus Cyrus becomes much stronger once Greninja has placed damage on the opponent’s Bench. Use Water Shuriken to soften a target, then use Cyrus to bring that Pokémon into the Active Spot when it is ready to be knocked out. Cyrus is not just a finishing card. It can also disrupt the opponent’s board by forcing up a Pokémon with a high Retreat Cost, a damaged support Pokémon, or an attacker that is not ready to attack.

Early Game

Your early-game priority is to establish Feebas, Froakie, and your support cards. Try to place at least one Feebas and one Froakie on the Bench as quickly as possible. Feebas is especially important because Wallace can evolve it directly into Milotic ex. If you have Wallace and Feebas available, you should strongly consider using Wallace early, especially when Milotic ex can immediately begin using Aqua Charge. Froakie should usually be placed on the Bench rather than used as your main attacker. Your goal is to evolve it into Greninja through Rare Candy as soon as possible. Greninja’s Water Shuriken becomes more valuable the earlier it enters play because every extra turn represents another 20 damage. Professor’s Research helps find evolution pieces, Rare Candy, Wallace, or additional Basic Pokémon. Copycat is best used when the opponent has built a large hand and you need to refresh your own resources. Do not rush Elegant Cape onto a Pokémon unless it changes an important survival threshold. It is usually best saved for Milotic ex once you know it will be your main Active attacker.

Mid Game

The mid game is where Milotic ex begins applying serious pressure. Once Milotic ex has enough Energy, use Water Pulse to deal 80 damage and put the opponent’s Active Pokémon to Sleep. At the same time, use Greninja’s Water Shuriken every turn. Your decision is whether to target the Active Pokémon or the Bench. Target the Active Pokémon when: 20 additional damage creates a knockout. You need to increase pressure on a bulky attacker. The opponent’s Active Pokémon is likely to remain trapped because of Sleep or a high Retreat Cost. Target the Bench when: You want to prepare a future Cyrus knockout. The opponent has a fragile support Pokémon. You want to weaken an attacker before it becomes active. The opponent has a Pokémon that cannot safely take 20 more damage later. This is also the stage where you should begin planning your prize route. Milotic ex can pressure the Active Spot, while Greninja can make sure the opponent has no safe Bench Pokémon to promote after a knockout.

Late Game

In the late game, the deck becomes a damage-management strategy. Greninja should have created multiple damaged Pokémon across the opponent’s board, and Milotic ex should be threatening important attacks through Water Pulse. Cyrus is your main closer. Look for damaged Pokémon on the Bench that can be brought forward and knocked out. A Pokémon that survived on the Bench after one or two Water Shuriken hits can suddenly become an easy prize target. Keep track of the opponent’s remaining points. Milotic ex gives up two points when knocked out, so do not leave it active carelessly if the opponent can win by removing it. In some games, it is better to let Greninja attack or sacrifice a smaller Pokémon rather than expose a damaged Milotic ex. If Milotic ex is still healthy and holding Elegant Cape, it can remain active for longer than opponents expect. Use this durability to continue forcing Sleep checks and buying more turns for Greninja’s passive damage.
