Strategy Overview

Mega Gardevoir ex Meloetta Indeedee is a Psychic control deck built around flexible Energy acceleration, careful positioning, and strong answers to awkward matchups. It is not a deck that needs to rush a knockout every turn. Instead, it wants to establish a stable board, use Meloetta to improve setup, evolve into Mega Gardevoir ex at the right time, and then use Fantasia Force to create overwhelming Energy advantages. Mega Gardevoir ex is the centerpiece of the deck. It has 210 HP and its Fantasia Force attack deals 110 damage. After attacking, you take three Psychic Energy from the Energy Zone and attach them to your Psychic Pokémon in any way you like. That Energy effect is what makes Mega Gardevoir ex much more than a normal Stage 2 attacker. Fantasia Force can power a second Mega Gardevoir ex, prepare Indeedee, rebuild a damaged attacker, or spread Energy over multiple Pokémon so the opponent cannot stop your entire game plan by knocking out one target. In a Psychic deck, this is an enormous amount of flexibility. The deck is especially strong when Mega Gardevoir ex survives for more than one turn. One Fantasia Force can create a threatening board. Two Fantasia Force attacks can make it very difficult for the opponent to keep up with the amount of Energy you have available. However, Mega Gardevoir ex must be used carefully. It is a Mega Evolution Pokémon ex, meaning the opponent receives three points when it is knocked out. You should not expose it too early if your board is incomplete or if the opponent can immediately remove it. This is where the rest of the deck becomes important. Meloetta is your preferred setup Pokémon and often the ideal opening Active Pokémon. Its Strange Singing Ability works at the beginning of your turn while Meloetta is in the Active Spot. It adds one random Psychic Pokémon from your deck to your hand. Strange Singing is not guaranteed search, so you cannot always rely on it to find exactly Mega Gardevoir ex or Indeedee. Still, it is extremely valuable in a deck full of Psychic Pokémon because every turn it can help you find another Ralts, a second Mega Gardevoir ex, Indeedee, or another Meloetta. Meloetta gives you a reason to take a slower opening turn. Rather than immediately putting Mega Gardevoir ex under pressure, you can leave Meloetta Active, use Strange Singing, build Ralts on the Bench, and wait until Rare Candy or the full evolution line is ready. Meloetta can also attack with Psyshot when necessary. It is not your primary damage source, but it gives the deck a way to avoid passing a turn while you set up the rest of the board. Indeedee is one of the most important utility cards in this version. Its Zen Shard attack deals 70 damage to one of the opponent’s Benched Pokémon. This is important because many decks try to hide their key Pokémon on the Bench once they become damaged or once they know your main attacker cannot reach them efficiently. Indeedee gives this deck a direct way to pressure those Bench targets. Its most important role is against Oricorio. Oricorio can prevent damage from attacks by opposing ex Pokémon, which means Mega Gardevoir ex cannot always deal with it directly. Indeedee is a non-ex attacker, so it can bypass that limitation and threaten Oricorio from the Bench. The limitation is that Indeedee can only target a Benched Pokémon. It cannot use Zen Shard against an Oricorio that is already Active. This means you need to pay close attention to the opponent’s board state. If Oricorio is on the Bench, Indeedee can become an immediate answer. If Oricorio is Active, you may need to use Sabrina, wait for the opponent to move it, or attack with Meloetta while setting up a different line. This creates an important skill test for the deck. Do not simply bench Indeedee and assume it solves every Oricorio matchup. Instead, identify when the opponent is likely to bench Oricorio, when Sabrina can force a better Active target, and when Cyrus can punish a damaged Bench Pokémon. Ralts and Kirlia form the evolution line into Mega Gardevoir ex. Ralts can also create early disruption through Confuse Ray, which can Confuse the opponent’s Active Pokémon. Confusion is not the main strategy of the deck, but it can be useful when you need to buy a turn or make the opponent hesitate before attacking. Kirlia is the necessary bridge to Mega Gardevoir ex unless you use Rare Candy. Rare Candy is one of the most important Trainer cards in the list because it allows Ralts to evolve directly into Mega Gardevoir ex. That can create a very fast Fantasia Force turn and is often the difference between getting your Energy engine online or falling behind. You should not use Rare Candy automatically. Before playing it, ask whether Mega Gardevoir ex can attack soon, whether you have a safe Bench, and whether you can survive the opponent’s response. Sometimes it is correct to wait until you have Lillie, Peculiar Plaza, or a second Ralts ready as insurance. Lillie is a major defensive card in this deck. It heals 60 damage from one of your Stage 2 Pokémon. Since Mega Gardevoir ex is a Stage 2 Pokémon with 210 HP, Lillie can be extremely frustrating for the opponent. A Mega Gardevoir ex that has taken significant damage may still survive because of Lillie. This can force the opponent to spend another full attack trying to remove it. Since Mega Gardevoir ex gives up three points when knocked out, preserving it for one extra turn can completely change the prize race. Lillie is strongest when healing 60 damage changes the opponent’s knockout math. Do not play it simply because Mega Gardevoir ex has minor damage. Save it for moments where it forces the opponent to take an extra turn, prevents a key knockout, or allows Mega Gardevoir ex to use Fantasia Force again. Rocky Helmet adds another layer of punishment. When the opponent attacks a Pokémon holding Rocky Helmet, their attacking Pokémon takes 20 damage. Rocky Helmet is especially useful on Mega Gardevoir ex because the opponent often has no choice but to attack it. This passive damage can create future Cyrus targets, make an opposing attacker vulnerable to Indeedee or Mega Gardevoir ex, and punish decks that need to attack repeatedly with the same Pokémon. Peculiar Plaza is the deck’s mobility Stadium. It reduces the Retreat Cost of every Pokémon in play by two. This gives your deck much more freedom to move Meloetta out of the Active Spot once it has generated enough value, pivot a damaged Mega Gardevoir ex to safety, or promote Indeedee when there is a Bench target worth sniping. However, Peculiar Plaza helps both players. The opponent can also retreat more easily. This means it should not always be played immediately. It is most valuable when it creates a direct advantage for you, such as preserving Energy on a retreat or allowing you to switch into Mega Gardevoir ex without sacrificing your entire turn. Professor’s Research, Copycat, and Poké Ball are your consistency cards. Professor’s Research gives direct draw when you need multiple pieces. Copycat can become very strong against opponents with large hands. Poké Ball helps find Ralts, Meloetta, Indeedee, and other key Basics. Sabrina and Cyrus are your main positional Supporters. Sabrina can force an unwanted Pokémon Active, disrupt an opponent’s board, or move Oricorio out of the Active Spot in the right situation. Cyrus is strongest once you have placed damage on a Benched Pokémon and want to bring it Active for a clean knockout. Overall, Mega Gardevoir ex Meloetta Indeedee is a flexible Psychic deck with a strong long-game plan. Meloetta creates setup value, Mega Gardevoir ex provides Energy acceleration, Indeedee punishes Bench-based strategies, Lillie preserves your Stage 2 attacker, and Peculiar Plaza gives the deck the mobility needed to choose the right attacker at the right moment.

Mega Gardevoir EX

Primary attacker and late-game win condition.

Early Game

The early game should focus on Meloetta, Ralts, and safe board development. Meloetta is often the best Active Pokémon because Strange Singing can improve your hand at the beginning of every turn. Keep Meloetta Active during the early turns when the extra Psychic Pokémon access is more valuable than attacking immediately. Bench Ralts as quickly as possible. Mega Gardevoir ex is your Energy engine, so every game should begin with the question: “How do I establish Mega Gardevoir ex safely?” Use Poké Ball to find the missing setup piece. If you already have Ralts, look for Meloetta or Indeedee depending on the matchup. If the opponent plays a likely Oricorio deck or another Bench-heavy strategy, benching Indeedee early can be useful. Avoid placing Mega Gardevoir ex in danger before you can gain value from Fantasia Force. In many games, the correct play is to set up two Ralts, keep Meloetta Active, and wait until Rare Candy or Kirlia gives you the right evolution timing.

Mid Game

The mid game begins when Mega Gardevoir ex becomes active. Fantasia Force should be used when the Energy distribution creates a real advantage. A good Fantasia Force turn may power a second Mega Gardevoir ex, prepare Indeedee for Zen Shard, or create a backup attacker so the opponent cannot stop your board by removing one Pokémon. Use Indeedee when the opponent has an important Bench target. Its 70 damage can remove low-HP support Pokémon, punish damaged Pokémon that retreat, or threaten Oricorio before it becomes a long-term problem. Rocky Helmet is best when Mega Gardevoir ex is likely to be attacked. The 20 damage may look small, but it adds up quickly and can force awkward decisions for the opponent. Use Peculiar Plaza when it lets you move Meloetta, Mega Gardevoir ex, or Indeedee without losing too much Energy. Remember that the opponent benefits from it too, so do not give them free mobility unless the trade clearly favors you.

Late Game

The late game is about protecting Mega Gardevoir ex and taking the safest prizes. Lillie becomes extremely important once Mega Gardevoir ex has taken significant damage. Heal only when it changes the opponent’s knockout math. A 60-damage heal can force an extra attack and deny the opponent the three-point Mega Evolution knockout they are trying to take. Cyrus is often your best closing Supporter. If Rocky Helmet, a previous Fantasia Force attack, or Indeedee has left a Pokémon damaged on the Bench, Cyrus can pull it Active for a final attack. Sabrina can win games by forcing the wrong Pokémon Active. This is especially useful against an opponent trying to hide a damaged attacker or protect a Bench Pokémon from Indeedee. Do not forget that Indeedee can be your final-prize attacker. Sometimes the best line is not attacking the biggest Pokémon in front of you. It is using Zen Shard to remove a lower-HP Bench target and end the game safely.
