The next expansion, Team Rocket’s Ambition, has now been officially revealed, confirming weeks of leaks and speculation surrounding the return of the iconic villainous organization. The new expansion is identified as B4a and will be released on Thursday, August 27, 2026. Team Rocket’s Ambition is presented as a Themed Booster Pack and introduces a range of new Team Rocket’s Pokémon alongside new Trainer cards. The reveal trailer already gave us our first look at several cards from the upcoming expansion — including three potentially major Pokémon ex cards: Team Rocket’s Moltres ex, Team Rocket’s Zapdos ex and Team Rocket’s Articuno ex.

The booster artwork itself prominently features Team Rocket characters and the organization’s famous red R logo, immediately giving the expansion a very different identity from recent Pokémon TCG Pocket sets. Moltres ex, Zapdos ex and Articuno ex Take Center Stage
Three of the biggest reveals from the trailer are Team Rocket’s Moltres ex, Team Rocket’s Zapdos ex and Team Rocket’s Articuno ex. The legendary Kanto bird trio appears to be among the headline Pokémon of Team Rocket’s Ambition, with all three receiving new Pokémon ex cards. Having Moltres, Zapdos and Articuno together gives the expansion an immediately recognizable trio of chase cards while also raising interesting questions about whether the three cards will share mechanical synergies or support different Team Rocket deck archetypes. More Team Rocket Events Are Reportedly Coming
Team Rocket’s Ambition may not be the only Team Rocket-related content coming to Pokémon TCG Pocket. Information circulating ahead of the expansion reveal indicated that an upcoming Drop Event could feature Team Rocket’s Lapras. A future Wonder Pick Event has also been reported to feature Meowstic and Fennekin promo cards. These event details should be treated separately from the cards officially shown in the Team Rocket’s Ambition reveal trailer until their respective events are officially announced.
What Team Rocket’s Ambition Could Mean for the Meta
Team Rocket’s Ambition has the potential to introduce an entirely new family of decks to Pokémon TCG Pocket. The repeated Team Rocket’s naming across Pokémon and Trainer cards suggests that B4a could contain dedicated synergy between these cards rather than simply being a collection of individually powerful additions.
