Pack Opening Strategy Guide

When to open packs, which packs to prioritize, and how to use wonder picks and shop tickets to build a competitive collection fastest.

The compounding cost of bad pack choices

Every pack you open in the wrong set delays your competitive collection by ~3 days. Across a month, casually 'trying out' new packs can set you back two full weeks of progress. Pick a target deck FIRST, then open exclusively for it.

Pack priority order

Paradox Ansturm first (Miraidon EX, Magnezone line). Mega Evolution second (Lucario, Sceptile, Altaria). Wisdom of Sea & Sky third (Suicune, Baxcalibur). Anything older or themed: skip unless you already have a top-tier deck.

Wonder picks — the hidden engine

Wonder Picks are free pulls from other players' opened packs. They cost only Wonder Hourglasses and the EV (expected value) per pick is significantly higher than a normal pack open because you can SEE the rare slot. Always burn your wonder picks daily.

Shop tickets

Spend shop tickets ONLY on cards you're missing for your active competitive deck. Don't buy golden EX variants — they're cosmetic and don't affect gameplay.

Pack opening psychology

Pull rates are fixed. Opening 20 packs in a row doesn't 'increase your odds' — variance just feels that way. Open at a steady daily pace and stop chasing the dopamine.
