Solgaleo ex Vaporeon ex is one of the most technical Pokémon TCG Pocket decks because it does not win through a simple “attach Energy and attack” plan. Instead, it creates a repeating pivot sequence that lets Solgaleo ex attack, retreat, disrupt the opponent’s Active Pokémon, and return to the Active Spot without wasting valuable Energy. The deck is built around Solgaleo ex, Vaporeon ex, Big Air Balloon, and careful timing. Solgaleo ex is the primary attacker and the main reason the deck can create so much pressure. It is a Stage 2 Pokémon that evolves from Cosmog through its evolution line. Once it is on the Bench, Solgaleo ex has access to Rising Road. Rising Road allows Solgaleo ex to switch from the Bench into the Active Spot once during your turn. This is an extremely powerful mobility effect because it does not require retreating, losing Energy, or using a Trainer card. Solgaleo ex can remain safely on the Bench until the exact moment it is needed, then immediately enter the Active Spot and threaten an attack. Its main attack, Sol Breaker, deals 120 damage for two Energy. That is a very efficient damage number for a Stage 2 Pokémon. The drawback is that Solgaleo ex takes 10 damage after using Sol Breaker. The self-damage is important, but it is not usually the biggest issue. The real challenge is keeping Solgaleo ex mobile enough to repeatedly use Rising Road and continue attacking without becoming trapped Active after every turn. That is where Big Air Balloon becomes one of the most important cards in the deck. Big Air Balloon gives the attached Stage 2 Pokémon no Retreat Cost. On Solgaleo ex, this is extremely valuable. After Solgaleo ex attacks, it can retreat to the Bench without losing Energy. This means Solgaleo ex can leave the Active Spot, allow another Pokémon to take the front position, and later return through Rising Road. This creates the foundation of the deck’s main loop. A standard Solgaleo ex Vaporeon ex turn can work like this: Solgaleo ex is Active and attacks with Sol Breaker. On the following turn, Solgaleo ex retreats to the Bench for free through Big Air Balloon. Vaporeon ex becomes Active. Vaporeon ex uses Frozen Flow. The opponent’s Active Pokémon is returned to the Bench. The opponent chooses a new Active Pokémon. Solgaleo ex uses Rising Road from the Bench. Solgaleo ex returns to the Active Spot. Solgaleo ex attacks again. This is why the deck is so unique. The goal is not only to deal 120 damage with Solgaleo ex. The goal is to control which Pokémon the opponent is forced to place Active before Solgaleo ex attacks again. Vaporeon ex is the disruption engine. Its Frozen Flow Ability can be used once during your turn while Vaporeon ex is Active. It sends the opponent’s Active Pokémon back to the Bench. The opponent chooses the replacement Active Pokémon. At first glance, this may seem weaker than a direct gust effect because the opponent chooses what comes forward. However, in the context of this deck, Frozen Flow is still extremely strong. The opponent may be forced to promote an unfinished attacker, a support Pokémon, a low-HP Basic Pokémon, or a Pokémon that does not have enough Energy to attack. Even when the opponent chooses their best replacement, you are still changing the board state before Solgaleo ex returns. This can interrupt their attack sequence, delay their Energy plan, force an awkward retreat later, or expose a Pokémon that Sol Breaker can threaten. Vaporeon ex is also not only a utility Pokémon. It can attack with Wave Splash for 80 damage. That gives the deck a backup attack line when Solgaleo ex is unavailable, damaged, or temporarily unable to return Active. However, Vaporeon ex should usually be treated as a pivot and disruption card first. Its main job is to enter the Active Spot for one key moment, trigger Frozen Flow, and then allow Solgaleo ex to reclaim the Active Spot through Rising Road. This creates a layered positioning game. The opponent must constantly think about which Pokémon they leave Active. If their Active Pokémon is weak, Vaporeon ex can remove it. If their Bench is weak, Frozen Flow may force one of those Pokémon forward. If they attach too much Energy to one attacker, Solgaleo ex can often threaten it after a disruption turn. The deck also plays Sylveon ex as a consistency engine. Sylveon ex evolves from Eevee and has the Ability Happy Ribbon. When you play Sylveon ex from your hand to evolve one of your Pokémon, you may draw two cards. This is valuable because Solgaleo ex is a Stage 2 deck. Stage 2 decks need multiple pieces: Basic Pokémon, evolutions, Rare Candy, Energy, support cards, and often a pivot plan. Happy Ribbon gives the deck extra draw without spending its Supporter for the turn. A strong early game can include Eevee in the Active Spot, evolving into Sylveon ex through Boosted Evolution, drawing two cards with Happy Ribbon, and using those additional cards to find Cosmog, Rare Candy, Solgaleo ex, Big Air Balloon, or Vaporeon ex. The Eevee in this deck is especially important because of Boosted Evolution. When Eevee is Active, it can evolve during the turn it is played or during your first turn. This allows you to evolve into Sylveon ex much earlier than a normal evolution line would allow. That early draw can make the whole deck more stable. In many games, the ideal opening is not to start attacking immediately. It is to establish one of two main setups: A fast Sylveon ex line to draw into your deck pieces. A Cosmog line that can become Solgaleo ex through Rare Candy. The deck plays Rare Candy because Solgaleo ex is Stage 2. Rare Candy lets Cosmog evolve directly into Solgaleo ex, skipping the normal middle evolution requirement. This is one of the strongest tempo plays in the deck. A Cosmog that looked harmless on the Bench can become Solgaleo ex unexpectedly. Once Solgaleo ex is online, Big Air Balloon can immediately become important. Big Air Balloon should almost always be prioritized for Solgaleo ex. The card is not merely a quality-of-life Tool. It is part of the main combo. Without Big Air Balloon, Solgaleo ex can still use Rising Road, but after attacking it may become stuck Active or force you to spend Energy retreating. That weakens the whole pivot plan. With Big Air Balloon, Solgaleo ex becomes much more difficult to pin down. It can attack, retreat for free, let Vaporeon ex disrupt the opponent, then return to the Active Spot. This allows the deck to reuse Rising Road’s value every turn rather than treating it as a one-time positioning effect. The deck also includes Vaporeon ex as a Stage 1 evolution from Eevee. This creates an important deck-building tension. Your Eevee cards can become either Sylveon ex or Vaporeon ex. Sylveon ex is usually the correct early evolution when you need cards. Vaporeon ex is usually the correct evolution when your board is developed and you need to start controlling the opponent’s Active Pokémon. You should not evolve every Eevee immediately. Ask what the current hand needs. If you are missing Rare Candy, Solgaleo ex, Big Air Balloon, or Energy, Sylveon ex is probably more valuable because Happy Ribbon can find the missing pieces. If Solgaleo ex is already prepared and you need to break the opponent’s board position, Vaporeon ex may be the better evolution. This decision is one of the deck’s biggest skill tests. Professor’s Research and Copycat give the deck additional draw support. Professor’s Research is strongest when your hand is weak and you need several combo pieces at once. Copycat is strongest when the opponent has a larger hand and you need a bigger refresh to find your evolution line, Tool, Energy, or positional Supporter. Juliana helps the Stage 2 plan by finding a random Stage 2 Pokémon from the deck. In this deck, that usually means Solgaleo ex. Juliana should be used when you already have Cosmog and need access to the Stage 2 part of the line. Mars is a disruption Supporter. It can force the opponent to shuffle their hand into their deck and draw a smaller replacement hand. This is especially useful when the opponent has built a large combo hand or is preparing to respond to your Solgaleo ex board. Cyrus is the main finishing Supporter. Frozen Flow can force the opponent to change their Active Pokémon. Sol Breaker can damage a threat. Cyrus can then bring a damaged Bench Pokémon Active and turn the opponent’s attempt to retreat into another prize opportunity. The deck’s main weakness is its complexity. It needs multiple evolution lines. It wants Solgaleo ex, Vaporeon ex, and sometimes Sylveon ex. It needs Rare Candy. It wants Big Air Balloon. It needs enough Energy on Solgaleo ex. It needs to understand when to use Frozen Flow and when to save it. Because of this, it is not a deck that should be played on autopilot. But when the setup is complete, Solgaleo ex Vaporeon ex can create some of the most satisfying turns in Pokémon TCG Pocket. It can repeatedly reposition its own attacker, disrupt the opponent’s Active Pokémon, and attack with 120 damage while keeping its key Energy on the field.
Main attacker — Sol Breaker hits 120 and Rising Road swaps it into the active spot from the bench.
Pivot — Frozen Flow forces the opponent to switch out their active Pokémon.
Draw engine — Happy Ribbon draws 2 cards when played from hand.
Boosted Evolution enables Stage 1 ex Pokémon on turn 1 or the turn it's played.
Teleport pivot that swaps into a setup benched Pokémon for free.
Your early game is about setup, not rushing damage. Prioritize Cosmog and Eevee. Cosmog is required for Solgaleo ex, while Eevee gives you access to either Sylveon ex or Vaporeon ex. If Eevee starts Active, consider evolving into Sylveon ex early. Happy Ribbon can draw two cards and help find your missing combo pieces. Use Poké Ball to find Cosmog when you do not have it. If Cosmog is already in play, Poké Ball can find an additional Eevee line or another Basic Pokémon for backup. Avoid evolving Eevee into Vaporeon ex too early unless Frozen Flow is immediately useful. In most early hands, Sylveon ex is the better first evolution because it improves consistency. Use Rare Candy when Solgaleo ex can either attack soon or become a safe Bench threat with Big Air Balloon ready.
The mid game is where the pivot engine comes online. Your target board is usually: Solgaleo ex on the Bench or Active Spot. Big Air Balloon attached to Solgaleo ex. Vaporeon ex ready to move Active. Enough Energy on Solgaleo ex to use Sol Breaker. At least one additional Bench option in case the opponent disrupts your board. Once Solgaleo ex attacks, do not automatically leave it Active for the next turn. If Big Air Balloon is attached, retreat Solgaleo ex for free and bring Vaporeon ex Active. Use Frozen Flow only when the opponent’s Active Pokémon is worth removing. Then use Rising Road to return Solgaleo ex Active. This allows you to reset the opponent’s Active Spot and threaten another Sol Breaker in the same turn. Use Mars in the mid game when the opponent has a large hand and appears ready to respond with a strong combo. Use Copycat when their hand size can improve your own consistency.
The late game is about controlling the final prize route. Use Vaporeon ex to remove the opponent’s best Active attacker before they can take a key knockout. Even though the opponent selects their replacement, the new Active Pokémon may be less prepared, less protected, or easier for Solgaleo ex to pressure. Use Cyrus when Sol Breaker or earlier attacks have damaged a Bench Pokémon. A damaged Pokémon that retreats is not always safe. Keep Big Air Balloon attached to Solgaleo ex whenever possible. The card is your main way to repeat the pivot loop without losing Energy. If Solgaleo ex has taken too much self-damage from Sol Breaker, consider whether Vaporeon ex should become the temporary attacker. Wave Splash can keep pressure up while another Solgaleo ex line is built or while you prepare the next pivot turn.
