Mega Sableye ex Greninja Darkrai ex is an aggressive Pokémon TCG Pocket deck that attacks from several different angles at once. The core attacker is Mega Sableye ex. It is a Basic Darkness Mega Evolution Pokémon ex with 170 HP, which means it can enter play quickly without needing an evolution line. However, it gives up three points when Knocked Out, so it needs to create meaningful pressure every time it enters the Active Spot. Mega Sableye ex uses Cursed Jewel for two Energy. The attack deals 80 damage, which is already a respectable number for a Basic attacker. The important part is its follow-up effect: during your opponent’s next turn, if Mega Sableye ex is damaged by an attack, the attacking Pokémon takes 40 damage. That makes Mega Sableye ex uncomfortable to attack into. The opponent has to decide whether taking 40 retaliation damage is acceptable. In some games, they may still attack because they need to remove Mega Sableye ex before it takes another prize. In other games, they may retreat, delay their attack, or try to move into a different board position. That hesitation is exactly what this deck wants. Mega Sableye ex does not win only through its own 80 damage. It wins by making every opponent decision more difficult while the rest of the deck adds chip damage and disruption. Greninja is the first major support engine. Greninja evolves from Froakie and has Water Shuriken. Once per turn, Water Shuriken lets you deal 20 damage to one of your opponent’s Pokémon. That target can be Active or Benched. Greninja should usually remain on the Bench. Its main purpose is not to attack with Mist Slash. Its job is to create damage across the opponent’s board while Mega Sableye ex, Mega Absol ex, or Chingling handles the Active Spot. Water Shuriken is important because it changes knockout math. A 20-damage hit can put a future attacker into Mega Sableye ex range. It can prepare a damaged Bench Pokémon for Cyrus. It can remove fragile setup Pokémon over multiple turns. It can also make the opponent think twice before leaving damaged support cards on the Bench. Darkrai ex adds another source of passive damage. Whenever you attach a Darkness Energy from the Energy Zone to Darkrai ex, Darkrai ex deals 20 damage to the opponent’s Active Pokémon. The best use of Darkrai ex is usually from the Bench. You do not need to make Darkrai ex your main attacker immediately. Instead, build it behind Mega Sableye ex or Chingling, attach Darkness Energy at the right time, and use its passive 20 damage to create new knockout ranges. This creates a strong pressure sequence: 1. Chingling slows the opponent’s early Item usage. 2. Greninja places 20 damage on an important target. 3. Darkrai ex places 20 damage on the Active Pokémon when Darkness Energy is attached. 4. Mega Sableye ex attacks for 80 damage. 5. If the opponent attacks Mega Sableye ex, Cursed Jewel can return 40 damage to their attacker. 6. Mega Absol ex can enter later to deal 80 damage and remove a key Supporter from the opponent’s hand. The deck does not need all of these effects every turn. The important part is that the opponent must respect all of them. A board with Greninja, Darkrai ex, and Mega Sableye ex can create pressure on the Active Spot, Bench, hand, Item usage, and prize trade at the same time. Mega Absol ex is the disruption attacker. Its Darkness Claw attack deals 80 damage. After the attack, the opponent reveals their hand and you choose one Supporter card from that hand to discard. This is especially valuable when the opponent is preparing a major response turn. You can remove a Cyrus before they drag a damaged Pokémon Active. You can discard Sabrina before they force Greninja or Darkrai ex into the Active Spot. You can remove a draw Supporter before they refresh a weak hand. You can discard healing or recovery Supporters when the opponent is trying to survive another turn. Mega Absol ex is not always the first attacker you should build. Because it gives up three points when Knocked Out, it should be used when its hand-disruption effect creates an actual advantage. Do not play Mega Absol ex simply because it is available. Play it when removing a Supporter meaningfully weakens the opponent’s next turn. Chingling gives the deck a disruptive opening route. After Chingling attacks, the opponent cannot play Item cards from their hand during their next turn. This can interfere with search cards, evolution support, switching cards, recovery Items, and other setup tools. Chingling is strongest early in the game, when the opponent is still trying to establish their core board. It is not a permanent lock. The opponent can still use Supporters, attack, retreat, evolve when possible, and plan around the restriction. But one Chingling turn can slow their setup enough for you to establish Greninja, Darkrai ex, or Mega Sableye ex safely. Rare Candy is essential because Greninja is a Stage 2 Pokémon. The deck does not want to wait too long for Greninja. Rare Candy gives Froakie a faster path into Greninja, allowing Water Shuriken to start affecting the board earlier. Professor’s Research, Copycat, and Poké Ball are the consistency backbone. Poké Ball helps find Froakie, Chingling, Darkrai ex, Mega Sableye ex, or Mega Absol ex depending on the matchup and opening hand. Professor’s Research is best when you are missing multiple setup pieces. Copycat is strongest when the opponent has a larger hand and you need to refresh into Rare Candy, Greninja, Energy, a Supporter, or your main attacker. Big Air Balloon improves mobility for Basic Pokémon. This is useful because Mega Sableye ex, Darkrai ex, Mega Absol ex, and Chingling are all Basic Pokémon. Reducing Retreat Cost helps avoid losing turns when the wrong Pokémon starts Active or when a damaged attacker needs to move out of danger. Lucky Egg is a recovery Tool. It is strongest on a Pokémon that your opponent is likely to Knock Out. When that Pokémon is removed, Lucky Egg can help refill your hand and give you access to the next attacker, Rare Candy, or key Trainer card. Overall, Mega Sableye ex Greninja Darkrai ex is a pressure deck that rewards sequencing. The best turns are not always the turns with the highest immediate damage. Sometimes the correct play is to attack with Chingling and delay Items. Sometimes it is to use Water Shuriken on the Bench and set up Cyrus. Sometimes it is to use Mega Absol ex to remove a Supporter. Sometimes it is to keep Mega Sableye ex Active and force the opponent to choose whether attacking into Cursed Jewel is worth the 40 damage. The deck is strongest when each of its smaller effects combines into one difficult board state.
The early game is about choosing the right opening plan. Start with Chingling when slowing Item-based setup is more valuable than immediate damage. This is especially useful against decks that rely on search Items, Rare Candy, switching Items, or fast evolution lines. Bench Froakie as early as possible. Greninja is your long-term engine, so Froakie should be protected whenever possible. Bench Darkrai ex when you expect to attach Darkness Energy to it later. Do not force Darkrai ex Active unless the matchup requires it. Mega Sableye ex can be benched early because it is a Basic Pokémon, but do not rush it into the Active Spot before it can attack or force an uncomfortable response. Use Poké Ball to find missing Basics. In most games, Froakie is the first priority, followed by Chingling or Mega Sableye ex depending on the matchup.
The mid game begins once Greninja is online or Mega Sableye ex can start attacking. Use Water Shuriken before choosing your attack each turn. Decide whether the 20 damage should go to the Active Pokémon or the Bench. Target the Active Pokémon when Darkrai ex or Mega Sableye ex can finish it soon. Target the Bench when the opponent has a fragile setup Pokémon, a damaged attacker they may try to hide, or a support Pokémon that will become vulnerable to Cyrus later. Use Mega Sableye ex when you can force the opponent into an awkward trade. Cursed Jewel is strongest when the opponent needs to attack Mega Sableye ex but takes 40 damage for doing so. Use Mega Absol ex when a Supporter discard will affect the opponent’s next turn. Look for Cyrus, Sabrina, draw Supporters, healing Supporters, or recovery cards.
The late game is about converting passive damage into prizes. Use Cyrus to bring a damaged Bench Pokémon Active once Greninja has softened it. Use Darkrai ex Energy attachments carefully. The 20 passive damage can create a knockout threshold that was not available before. Use Mega Sableye ex to trade into damaged attackers. The opponent may be forced to accept 40 retaliation damage if they need to Knock Out your Mega Pokémon. Use Lucky Egg on a Pokémon likely to be Knocked Out when you need hand recovery for the next attacker. Do not expose Mega Absol ex or Mega Sableye ex without a reason. Both give up three points, so the correct prize trade matters more than raw damage.
