Guide

Kakashi Hatake's Battle Plan is easily one of the most interesting cards I've played in Naruto: Ninja Cards. It's also one of the trickiest cards to build around, mainly because of its massive 7-cost requirement.

That's exactly why I wanted to try this deck.

Instead of just throwing Kakashi into a regular lineup, I built the entire strategy around Weaken effects. Cards like Hiruzen Sarutobi, Tobirama Senju, Sasuke Uchiha, Neji Hyuga and Amachi give us several ways to weaken opposing cards while putting pressure on the board.

The real fun begins once Kakashi is active. His Battle Plan generates additional Chakra whenever our allies weaken rival cards, with an extra bonus when they affect a card for the first time. Suddenly, those Weaken effects aren't just there to disrupt our opponent. They're also helping us generate resources.

Of course, getting Kakashi onto the board is the biggest challenge. At 7 cost, he's a serious investment, and you can't expect to play him comfortably in every situation. That's why the rest of the deck needs to contribute even before Kakashi arrives.

What I like about this build is that it doesn't rely on just one character to apply Weaken. We have multiple ways to trigger the mechanic, additional control effects and some useful Chakra support to help keep the deck moving.

It's definitely not the easiest deck to pilot, but that's also what makes it interesting. You need to think ahead, manage your resources and choose the right moment to bring Kakashi into play.

Once everything starts working together, though, the Chakra generation can become incredibly satisfying.

Strategy — how the deck works

The main goal is to establish a reliable Weaken engine while preparing for Kakashi Hatake's expensive deployment.

**Early Game – Set Up and Control**

I usually want to start with cards that can apply Weaken without requiring a huge investment.

Sasuke Uchiha's Fireball Jutsu is a useful option because it applies Weaken to all rivals in Mid Range when deployed. Amachi offers another way to weaken an opposing card while gaining Rush, and Neji Hyuga can apply both Push and Weaken during encounters.

The important thing here is that these cards aren't just waiting for Kakashi. They can already interfere with the opponent's game plan on their own.

**Mid Game – Build Resources and Prepare Kakashi**

This is where Chakra management becomes especially important.

Honura Mitokado can give our next deployed ally Guard and additional Chakra, while Neji Hyuga's Byakugan can reduce an opposing card's Chakra and gain Rush.

I also like having defensive options such as Jiraiya and Sasuke's Winged Defense. They give the deck more ways to handle encounters instead of relying entirely on Weaken effects.

The biggest mistake would be rushing into Kakashi without considering what happens afterward. Spending 7 resources on a single card is a major commitment, so I want to make sure the board is in a reasonable position before going for it.

**Late Game – Activate the Battle Plan**

Once Kakashi is active, the deck's main synergy finally comes together.

His Battle Plan grants Chakra whenever allied cards Weaken rivals. The first time an allied card affects a particular rival with Weaken, it can generate an additional Chakra bonus.

This makes cards that can weaken multiple opponents particularly interesting.

Hiruzen Sarutobi is one of my favorite pieces for this strategy. His Elemental Master ability applies Weaken and Slow to all lane rivals when deployed. The first time he gains Chakra, he can also apply additional Weaken and Burn to those rivals.

Tobirama Senju is another strong option because his Water Shock Wave applies Weaken and Slow across all rival cards when deployed.

Both cards fit naturally into the strategy because they help control the board while creating opportunities for Kakashi's Chakra generation.

**The Key to Winning**

Don't treat Kakashi as a card you have to deploy immediately.

I prefer to establish the Weaken pressure first, use the other cards to control encounters and bring Kakashi into play when I can actually take advantage of his ability.

The deck becomes much more rewarding when you plan your Weaken triggers instead of simply playing every card as soon as possible.

Strengths

  • Excellent synergy between Weaken effects and Chakra generation
  • Multiple cards can apply Weaken across several rivals
  • Strong board control through Weaken, Slow and Push
  • Hiruzen and Tobirama can affect multiple opposing cards
  • Additional defensive options through Guard effects
  • Rewarding strategy with plenty of room for smart plays
  • Can pressure opponents even before Kakashi is deployed

Weaknesses

  • Kakashi's 7-cost requirement makes him difficult to deploy
  • The main Chakra engine only works while Kakashi is active
  • Requires careful timing to maximize Weaken triggers
  • Can struggle when the opening hand lacks useful setup cards
  • Heavy resource investment can leave you vulnerable
  • Some Weaken effects depend on specific ranges or encounters
  • Not the easiest deck for beginners to pilot consistently

Matchup & gameplay notes

The most important thing I've learned with this deck is that timing matters more than simply playing your strongest card.

**Against Aggressive Decks**

Don't focus too much on getting Kakashi out immediately. If your opponent is applying pressure early, use Sasuke, Amachi and Neji to weaken important threats and keep the board under control.

Sometimes surviving the opening pressure is more valuable than saving everything for the perfect Battle Plan combo.

**Against Wide Boards**

This is where cards like Tobirama and Hiruzen can really shine.

Tobirama applies Weaken(2) and Slow(8s) to every rival card, making him especially useful when the opponent has several active threats.

Hiruzen can also generate excellent value when multiple rivals occupy his lane. His additional Weaken and Burn effect makes his first Chakra gain particularly important.

If Kakashi is already active, these multi-target effects become even more interesting because of the additional Chakra they can generate.

**Against Defensive Decks**

Try not to waste all your Weaken effects on cards that aren't currently threatening you.

Neji's Push and Sasuke's Winged Defense can help manage encounters, while Jiraiya's Guard-based Weaken gives you another way to punish an opponent who commits to your lane.

I especially like Neji's Sixty-Four Palms here. If he causes a rival to withdraw, that card permanently loses 2 base Chakra. That's a useful way to create longer-term pressure.

**Important Card Interactions**

Kakashi + Tobirama: One of the most attractive combinations because Tobirama can Weaken every rival on deployment.

Kakashi + Hiruzen: Hiruzen's deployment Weaken can benefit from Battle Plan, while his first Chakra gain can trigger an additional wave of Weaken and Burn. Pay attention to the exact order in which these effects resolve.

Kakashi + Sasuke Fireball Jutsu: A relatively cheap way to apply Weaken to multiple Mid Range rivals and potentially generate additional Chakra.

Neji + Weaken: Neji's Sixty-Four Palms provides repeatable encounter pressure, making him useful even outside the main Kakashi combo.

**My Final Advice**

Don't force the perfect combo every game.

Sometimes you'll have the resources to deploy Kakashi early enough to get multiple Battle Plan triggers. Other times, you'll need to rely on your control cards and wait for a better opportunity.

That's what makes this deck challenging but also really fun to play.

If you enjoy decks where smart sequencing and resource management matter, Battle Plan Kakashi is definitely worth trying.
