Pokémon TCG Live

Pokémon TCG Live is the official free-to-play digital version of the Pokémon Trading Card Game, developed and published by The Pokémon Company International. It launched as the successor to Pokémon TCG Online and is now the primary way millions of players test decks, climb the ranked ladder, and prepare for in-person Regional and International Championships. The client runs on PC, macOS, iOS, and Android with a shared account, so your collection and progress follow you between desktop and mobile.

The current Standard format is the same card pool used at sanctioned live events, which means the digital meta tracks tournament results in near real-time. Each new English-language expansion is added to TCG Live on release day, and the annual September rotation removes older sets from Standard play. Expedition formats and seasonal events give players a place to use cards outside Standard, while the in-client ranked ladder runs in monthly seasons that reward both casual progression and competitive grinding.

Competitive Pokémon TCG Live takes the format seriously. Top-tier players use the ladder to net-deck reads, refine sideboards, and ship tuned 60-card lists to upcoming tournaments. Independent organizers run weekly online cups, daily challenges, and tournament series — many with cash prizes — so even players without travel budget can play meaningful matches. The barrier to entry is low: starter decks unlock the basics, daily quests pay out Crafting Credits, and every physical TCG product ships with a code that can be redeemed in the client.

Climbing ranked is the fastest way to learn the format. The ladder rotates seasonally and tracks both win rate and total wins, so consistent play matters more than a single hot streak. New players should pick one deck from the current Tier S or Tier A archetype list, play 30–50 matches with it, and only switch after they understand the deck's mulligan rules, prize map, and worst matchups. That approach beats deck-hopping nearly every season.
